Community Support Program

Community Supported Living Arrangements (CSLA) and Individualized Support Services (ISS) provide assistance to individuals and families both at home and in the community. The purpose of these programs is to support each person in identifying and achieving their goals, to maximize independence and to increase community presence and participation. Personal goals can include the following:
·    Daily / healthy living skills
·    Money management
·    Emergency preparedness
·    Enjoying recreation and leisure time interests.

A Community Support Specialist explores with each individual their interests, talents and abilities to design and implement program supports that focus on strengths while building skills and abilities. These programs utilize resources in the community to widen the individual’s scope of experiences and opportunities. Individuals supported by their   Specialist enjoy going to the theater, plays festivals and cultural events; planning, shopping and preparing meals, exercising at the local community center or gym; participating in advocacy groups, horseback riding, dances and more. Individuals are involved in every aspect of the activity from planning to evaluation; from individual living situations to family homes and caregiver residences.

The Community Support Program also offers Saturday programs that have a variety of activities. These activities focus on life skills training in a group setting and can include preparing and cooking healthy meals, identification of money management, personal hygiene skills, social skills, learning how to complete laundry tasks and other skills of daily living.
