Mission - Our purpose:
To support and empower individuals with disabilities in gaining and maintaining the skills and resources needed to maximize their potential for independence and inclusion in their community, both vocationally and socially.
Vision - Our goal:
For NHSSI to be successful in expanding opportunities and resources for persons with disabilities and their families within the communities we serve. Through person-centered planning, the agency will support individual life choices, dignity and opportunities for all persons as fully included, contributing and productive members of society.
Values - Our beliefs:
Consumer Focus: We respect the individuality, the dignity, uniqueness and worth of each person we support. We respect and support individual and family choices, we plan and partner with individuals, families and their caregiver support networks to ensure that each person served can secure the opportunity to choose and realize their goals, their hopes and their dreams.
Families: We recognize family lifelong commitment, their sacrifices, their ongoing support and presence to their loved one. As an agency, we accept responsibility and are accountable for their loved ones. Our job is to ensure good communication, good relationships and good cooperation with all families of individuals supported. We recognize and appreciate staff members' service to our organization, their caring and their commitment. We support the development of a well trained and skilled workforce dedicated to supporting each person we serve. We respect the direct support professional as the front line critical member of our staff team furthering the quality of life of every individual. We are committed to improving resources to expand initiatives for fair and adequate compensation. We encourage and support communication at all levels. We seek opportunities for collaboration. We network to open doors and build new opportunities.
Professionalism: We value services and supports that ensure high quality programs consistent with the professional standards of our field. We measure our success by the responsible and careful use our financial and human resources which result in measurable outcomes for those served. We work to ensure a fair and ethical approach to all aspects of our organization.
Community: As a community service organization, we are committed to building strategic partnerships with the public and private sectors. We are dedicated to serving our community and being responsive to the public. We in turn seek the community's support in order to find and develop opportunities for persons supported by the agency. We ask the public for employment, for connections, and support that will provide community participation and membership. We seek inclusion, full access and participation of individuals with disabilities as involved citizens and contributing members of society.
Leadership: The agency is led with vision, optimism and integrity by staff, a voluntary Board of Director and an active Membership. We believe in transparency and through open, honest and timely communication. We work with individuals, organizations and coalitions in a collaborative fashion. Good teamwork with and between volunteer and staff leadership at all levels of the organization is our ongoing objective to ensure our agency remains dedicated to excellence and total quality management.
